Audition Guidelines

Youth Aliyah Concert: Sunday, April 29, 2012 3:00 - 5:00 PM

Youth Aliyah Concert Audition will take place at:

Shapira, 114 Montana Ave, Oak Ridge, TN.

Youth Aliyah Concert Audition judges will be announced by mid February.

The judges will select students to perform in the annual concert. We will also recognize those students who score highest points in each age division, Students of any age can audition as long as they have not yet graduated from high school.

Since we have a large number of students at auditions and a limited amount of time, we must follow a few guidelines shown on the right of the page.

  • Students must select only one piece for their audition.
  • Students may try out either as a solo or as an ensemble.
  • Students should audition on only one instrument.
  • Selections should be limited to 3-4 minutes.
    • A limited number of exceptions will be made to advanced music students who can prepare longer pieces..
  • Students apply by Wednesday, March 6, 2012 (evening) for audition time. Online registration is the preferred mode. If you do not have access to the internet call me at 483-4474 no later than Wednesday, March 6, 2012 in the evening and provide the following information: name, age, musical selection, composer, accompanist, name of teacher, and student's phone and address.
  • Students may bring music to audition, but preferably have piece memorized for the concert.
  • Please ask your students to check their calendars in advance to be sure there are no conflicts with concert dates or times if they are selected.
  • Taped auditions are discouraged but may constitute an alternative in some cases.
